What the report says

Ronald Rugumayo, Uganda’s Pro Open champion, won the second leg of the MTN Pro Tee at Entebbe Club in Entebbe, Uganda, according to The Independent Uganda. The tournament was played over four rounds, and Rugumayo finished on 16-under-par 268 after rounds of 70, 71, 63 and 64. The report said his total produced the lowest scores ever recorded at the Entebbe course during the event.

The article says Rugumayo opened up a strong lead with a 63 in the third round and followed it with another low round on the final day. He said in the clubhouse that he was happy with the victory and credited his mental toughness after starting badly in the opening two rounds. The win came a week after he secured what the paper described as the biggest victory of his career, becoming the first Ugandan in 14 years to win the Uganda Pro Open.

Abraham Ainamani finished second, seven shots behind on 275, while Rodel Tadeo Gaita was third on 277. The event offered a sh20 million prize kitty and included 40 professionals, six amateurs and two lady professionals. The report also noted that the Grand Finale in December will decide the Order of Merit, with a larger prize fund of sh30 million.
