Windows Central reported that Sony’s newly dated PlayStation 5 title, “God of War: Laufey,” is set to launch on February 16, 2027, one day before the early-access period for Microsoft’s “Fable.” The outlet framed the timing as a symbolic setback for Xbox because “Fable,” historically associated with Xbox and Windows, is also planned for PS5 rather than remaining a console exclusive.

The article, written as analysis by Jez Corden, argues that Microsoft’s recent push to release more Xbox-published games on rival platforms has weakened the case for buying an Xbox console. Windows Central said Microsoft had previously indicated that already announced multiplatform projects would remain so, including “Fable,” which is being developed by Playground Games, the studio known for “Forza Horizon.”

Windows Central also reported that Microsoft is trying to re-emphasize Xbox hardware under CEO Asha Sharma, citing expected exclusives such as “Gears of War: E-Day” and “Clockwork Revolution,” along with recent console updates.
