Judiciary to Expand Digital Court Services to Eight Courts in November

What the report says
The Judiciary of Uganda plans to expand its Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) to eight courts in Cluster 10 on November 9, 2026, according to Nile Post. The rollout is part of a broader effort to improve access to justice, strengthen accountability and cut delays in court proceedings. The courts included are Mpigi High Court and the chief magistrates’ courts of Mpigi, Butambala, Buwama, Nsangi, Gomba, Kasangati, Bujuuko and Kajjansi.
Nile Post reports that the expansion followed a sensitisation exercise at Mpigi High Court and Mpigi Chief Magistrate’s Court, where court users, local leaders and community members were briefed on how the digital platform works. Project manager Joseph Ssinabulya, speaking for the ECCMIS technical committee, said the system would let users create accounts, check case information and receive updates through phones or computers. He said the platform is intended to reduce missing case files, limit dependence on brokers and intermediaries, and improve communication through reminders and automated notifications.
The report says the Judiciary will set up ECCMIS kiosks at Mpigi High Court and Mpigi Chief Magistrate’s Court to assist users during the rollout, with system administrators on hand to guide people through the platform. Mpigi High Court Deputy Registrar Arinaitwe Gorret welcomed the initiative as a timely service improvement and urged users to adopt it.
More broadly, ECCMIS is part of a digital court reform effort already introduced in more than 56 courts, according to the article. The move reflects a wider trend in court administration toward electronic case handling, though local implementation and user access remain key factors in its success.
