Magic.gg reported that Day Two of Pro Tour Magic: The Gathering | Marvel Super Heroes at MagicCon: Amsterdam produced a volatile finish to the Swiss rounds and set the Top 8 for Sunday. The event, described as one of the biggest Pro Tour fields since tabletop play resumed, entered Saturday with Martin Juza at 8-0, but a difficult draft left him 1-2 in that portion. Timo Bertram then reached 10-0-1 before losing three Modern rounds.

The shifting standings led to a varied Top 8 shaped by Modern deck diversity and Limited skill. Eduardo Sajgalik was the first player confirmed for the playoff, while Bernardo Torres advanced after pairing a 5-1 Draft record with Esper Goryo’s Vengeance. Ken Yukuhiro reached his ninth career Pro Tour Top Finish, Alex Rohan made his first, and Lorenzo Gruppi also secured a place with Broodscale Combo.

A major feature of this Pro Tour is that its Top 8 will be decided by draft, the first such Pro Tour playoff format since 2011, according to the publisher. Magic.gg highlighted notable Limited performances from Francisco Sanchez, Chris Kral and Ramon Santos, each of whom went 6-0 across the event’s draft rounds. White-based strategies were widely expected to be strong, but the reported results showed several archetypes succeeding.

The tournament also mattered because it was the final Pro Tour before Magic World Championship 32 in November. Magic.gg said the 220 players returning for Day Two were chasing either direct qualification through a Top Finish or season points, with the full Worlds field to be announced later.
