Pride Bank Opens New Branch in Kisoro to Boost Financial Inclusion

What the report says
Pride Bank Limited has opened a new branch in Kisoro Town, a move the bank says is aimed at widening financial inclusion in the largely rural district. According to Nile Post, the branch is being positioned to serve Kisoro’s predominantly farming population with products such as agricultural loans, savings accounts and digital banking services.
The bank said its focus is on smallholder farmers and other communities that have often had limited access to formal financial services. Managing Director Veronicah Gladys Namagembe said the institution wants to tailor its products to local needs and support livelihoods in the district. She pointed to agricultural lending, value-chain financing and mobile-based services as part of the bank’s strategy to make credit more accessible.
Board Director Peninnah Tibagwa Kasule said Pride Bank plans to invest further in digital banking so customers can connect through their phones and reach services more easily. The bank also said it has been serving underserved Ugandans since 1995 and intends to keep expanding access.
Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Hajji Badru Ssebyala welcomed the development but urged the bank to remain transparent and fair, and to ensure customers understand loan terms and other conditions. The branch reflects a broader push by financial institutions to extend services into rural farming areas, where access to affordable credit remains a major challenge.
