Al Jazeera, citing officials and news agency reporting, reported that Russian strikes across Ukraine overnight into Thursday killed at least 14 people and injured dozens more. The heaviest reported casualties and damage were in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region and the western Lviv region. The report, published July 30, 2026, said the attack involved more than 70 missiles and over 280 drones, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy condemned what he called Russian terror and urged continued international help to protect civilians from missile attacks. He said many of the missiles were ballistic and that Ukrainian air defenses had intercepted more than 260 drones. He also argued that delays in anti-ballistic missile deliveries and other assistance had worsened the toll, saying Ukraine could not be left to handle air defense needs alone.

The Al Jazeera photo report showed damage in multiple locations, including an apartment building in Lviv, destroyed homes in Radushne near Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk, and a market hit in Kyiv. Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv regional military administration, said at least 30 people were injured in Lviv.

Al Jazeera also reported Russia’s Ministry of Defence as saying Russian air defenses shot down 258 Ukrainian drones overnight. In Russia’s Penza region, Governor Oleg Melnichenko said a Wildberries online retailer depot caught fire, one person was injured and about 200 workers were evacuated. The strikes come amid a broader pattern, described by Al Jazeera, of intensified large-scale Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities during the summer.
