Photos show widespread damage at US sites from Iranian attacks

Photos obtained by BBC partner CBS News show extensive damage at multiple US military sites in the Middle East that were hit in Iranian strikes, according to the BBC report. The images, supplied by active-duty personnel and not independently verified by the BBC, include a destroyed Boeing E-3 Sentry aircraft at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, as well as flattened trailers, a damaged tent-like structure and a four-storey building struck at sites in Kuwait.

The report says the photos emerged a day after the Pentagon’s watchdog said Iranian attacks had damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US bases across Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan. That watchdog report also said equipment losses totaled $3.7bn, while overall US spending on the war had reached $33.4bn by 29 June.

The BBC also noted broader context: a Congressional Budget Office review said some damaged aircraft, including the E-3, would be costly to replace because the model is no longer in production. Separately, the article linked the damage reports to rising political pressure in Washington over the war with Iran, including a House vote seeking to limit further military action without congressional approval. The White House and US Central Command did not immediately comment, the BBC said.
