Pearl bank bets on digital growth

What the report says
Pearl Bank, formerly PostBank Uganda, says its rebranding is starting to reshape how it is positioned in the market, with a stronger focus on digital services, financial inclusion and support for enterprise growth. The Uganda-based Tier I lender adopted the Pearl Bank name in June 2025 after approval from government and shareholders, according to The Observer. The change included a new corporate identity, such as a revised name, logo and visual style.
Managing director Julius Kakeeto said the bank wants to present itself as a digitally progressive and inclusive institution that can better meet changing customer needs. He said the brand is meant to reflect trust, resilience and prosperity, while supporting access to affordable financial services for people across the country, including underserved communities.
The bank has introduced products aimed at micro, small and medium enterprises, with financing linked to agriculture, education and small business activity. It is also expanding mobile banking, USSD and wallet-based services to widen access, alongside physical and digital infrastructure growth. The opening of its Luwero branch, which The Observer described as a pilot for the rebrand, was a notable milestone. Pearl Bank said it now has 59 branches. More broadly, the move fits a wider trend in banking toward digital delivery and broader financial inclusion, though the article focused on Pearl Bank’s own strategy.
