What the report says

The Hollywood Reporter says YouTube and NBCUniversal have announced a major streaming partnership that will add Peacock Premium to YouTube Premium in early 2027. YouTube Premium currently costs $15.99 a month, and the arrangement would make NBCUniversal’s streaming service part of that subscription rather than only a separate add-on sold through YouTube’s marketplace.

According to THR, the deal will bring Peacock programming into YouTube Premium, including NBCUniversal entertainment titles such as “Law & Order,” “Saturday Night Live” and “Love Island,” along with live sports connected to the NFL, NBA and MLB. The report says Peacock has 48 million subscribers, while YouTube Premium and YouTube Music together have 125 million subscribers, though YouTube does not disclose a split between those two products.

The agreement builds on a broader Google-NBCUniversal pact from last year. THR reports it will also extend NBCUniversal’s programming arrangement with YouTube TV, put some YouTube offerings on Comcast’s Xfinity and Xumo platforms, and include NBC Sports streaming some live events on its YouTube channels. NBC will also act as production partner for select YouTube live events, while some international NBCUniversal streaming services, including Universal+ and Hayu, will be bundled in certain markets.

The move matters because it positions YouTube Premium as a broader entertainment bundle and could expose Peacock to a much larger subscriber base. THR notes Peacock has recently pursued multiple distribution partnerships, including with Apple TV, Prime Video, Roku and Google, as streaming companies look for scale, lower churn and new ways to package services for consumers.
