Parkinson eyes Wrexham response after honest talks

What the report says
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says he has held frank, open discussions with his squad after their disappointing 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Friday. Speaking to BBC Sport, Parkinson said the team needed to be self-critical after a performance he felt fell short of their usual standards, particularly in the first half at Bramall Lane.
The Championship side are preparing for a busy week at home, with Middlesbrough visiting the Racecourse on Wednesday before Wolves arrive later in the week. Wrexham are 18th in the table heading into those matches and are looking to respond after successive away defeats. Parkinson said the group had spent time reviewing the full game together rather than only selected moments, in order to address accountability and identify what needs to improve.
He said the squad had worked productively on the training ground and now needs to show greater intensity, tactical discipline and determination. Wrexham have had strong results at home at times this season, including a 4-1 win over Preston North End in their most recent home game, but have not yet put together back-to-back home victories. Parkinson also pointed to the importance of the Racecourse atmosphere as the club seeks a lift from supporters.
