Yahoo Finance, citing a GuruFocus article, reported that Oracle has won a 10-year U.S. military software contract with a potential value of up to $6.99 billion if all option years are used. The agreement carries an initial five-year value of $3.31 billion, followed by five additional option years that could bring the total close to $7 billion.

The contract covers Oracle software for on-premises data centers across military branches, the Coast Guard and U.S. intelligence agencies, according to the report. It also allows agencies to purchase cloud services, software applications, technical support and professional services through task and delivery orders, giving multiple defense and intelligence organizations a shared procurement channel.

The article said U.S. authorities expect the consolidated buying approach to save taxpayers at least $441 million by reducing fragmented purchasing and aligning technology use across agencies. The award is tied to the Department of War’s Enterprise Software Initiative, which the report described as an effort to simplify software acquisition while improving interoperability and cybersecurity.
