NRM Treasurer Donates Land for Party Offices in Busia

What the report says
National Resistance Movement National Treasurer Barbara Nekesa Oundo has donated a freehold plot in Busia Municipality to support construction of party offices in Busia District, according to Nile Post. The land is described as 0.111 hectares and is located on Plot 31, Hadongole Road. Nekesa handed over the title to NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong on behalf of the party secretariat during the transfer.
Nile Post reported that Nekesa acquired the property in July 2011, shortly after the start of Uganda’s Ninth Parliament, but it had remained undeveloped for nearly 15 years. She said she had later bought and developed other properties, while this particular plot stayed vacant until she decided it should be used for the party. The donation now gives the NRM a site for offices in Busia, which may help the party strengthen its local presence and organization.
Todwong praised Nekesa for what he called commitment to the NRM and for contributing to the party’s growth. The report places the donation in the context of ongoing political organization at district level in Uganda, where local party offices can serve as a base for administration, mobilization and coordination. No further terms of the transfer were provided in the article.
