Nigerian artiste Fave slams Ugandan promoter over poor pay and treatment

According to Sqoop Uganda, the artiste, whose full name is Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, had travelled to Uganda earlier this month to headline an event. She did not name the promoter in her comments, but she used social media to voice frustration about how she says she was handled.

In the remarks reported by Sqoop Uganda, Fave said she had accepted a deal below what she believes she is worth and then felt disrespected after arriving in the country. She also suggested that such experiences can shape how visiting artistes view Uganda, arguing that some promoters make it harder for guests to leave with positive impressions. Despite the complaints, she said her affection for Uganda led her to overlook some of the difficulties.

The comments have drawn attention in Uganda’s music and entertainment circles, especially around the relationship between foreign performers and local promoters, including pay negotiations and hospitality arrangements. Fave is known for songs such as Baby Riddim and Mr Man, and the episode has shifted discussion away from her performance and toward broader concerns about how international acts are treated when booked for shows in the country.
