AllAfrica, carrying a Vanguard report from Asaba dated July 29, 2026, reported that traffic to and from Illah in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State has been disrupted after the Illah-Ugbolu Road collapsed. The report said the failure of the road left vehicles stranded on Tuesday, including Dangote trucks carrying cement, and created a blockage that affected commuters using the route.

According to Vanguard, resident and public affairs commentator Molokwu Azuka called attention to the situation and said the road had deteriorated past the point of routine repairs. He said access through the Ugbolu axis had effectively been cut off, making movement in and out of Illah difficult for residents and road users.

Azuka appealed to the Delta State Government and other relevant authorities to treat the road as an emergency project and begin rehabilitation urgently. He said the collapse was affecting farmers trying to move produce, traders, students, civil servants, patients and emergency responders, describing the impact as both economic and humanitarian for Illah and nearby communities.
