Nigeria: Omotola Reveals Earning N22.2m From N103m-Grossing 'Mother's Love'

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has given a public breakdown of the earnings from her film *Mother’s Love*, highlighting how much of a cinema gross can be reduced by industry deductions. In a video posted on Instagram, she said the film finished its theatrical run with a reported gross of N103,094,663, but that only N22,276,558 was ultimately accrued to the producers after exhibitor, distributor, advertising, tax and related charges.

The Premium Times report, republished by AllAfrica, says the film was released nationwide on 6 March and marked Jalade-Ekeinde’s feature directorial debut. It also notes that the project included actors such as Olumide Oworu, Noray Nehita, Ifeanyi Kalu, Lilian Afegbai and Nosa Rex, and was distributed by The Nile Entertainment.

Jalade-Ekeinde also said the full amount that accrued to the producers was donated to Slum2School Africa, a nonprofit focused on education for children in underserved communities. She said the transfer was made on 7 July 2026 and linked the donation to an earlier pledge by her production company, RedHot Concepts, to give 100% of its theatrical proceeds from the film to the organization.

The disclosure matters because it offers a rare look at the economics of Nigerian film distribution, where box-office headlines do not necessarily reflect what producers receive. It also shows how some filmmakers are pairing commercial releases with charitable commitments.
