Nigeria’s Immigration Service said it will send a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to help Nigerians there with pending, new and renewal passport applications. The report, published by Premium Times and distributed by AllAfrica, said the initiative was ordered by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and is set to begin on 10 August 2026.

According to the statement, the team will work with the Nigerian High Commission in the UK and will travel to selected cities to carry out enrolment and processing. The service said this is meant to make access easier for applicants across the country, rather than requiring everyone to travel to one central location. It said the exercise is open to people with unresolved applications, first-time applicants and passport holders with less than a year left before expiry who want to renew.

The NIS also said applicants should bring completed forms and proof of payment. It added that a detailed city-by-city schedule will be released separately and advised people not to visit any venue until that information is officially announced. The service said its regular digital passport channels, including contactless application and home delivery, will continue to operate during the intervention.
