Nigeria: New JAMB Registrar Clears 5,000 Complaints in 5 Days

What the report says
Leadership, republished by AllAfrica, reports that the new registrar of Nigeria’s Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, addressed about 5,000 complaints in his first five days in office. The update was attributed to a JAMB statement from acting Public Affairs and Protocol director Dr. Fabian Benjamin, who said the registrar moved quickly to tackle backlogs and improve how the agency serves candidates and other stakeholders.
According to the report, Aina strengthened JAMB’s SERVICOM unit and relocated his seat there to better understand the complaints process and ensure unresolved cases were handled. The board said the effort was part of his service-focused agenda and his plan to improve communications and service delivery. JAMB also directed desk officers to resolve complaints more quickly and more comprehensively.
The cases addressed reportedly covered several recurring problems, including profile code creation, biometric verification, CAPS-related issues, lost phones and SIM cards, transfers from DE to UTME, omissions from the National Matriculation List, payment problems, incorrect examination venues, e-PIN issues, document upload errors, and requests for changes to personal details. The development matters because JAMB is a key body in Nigeria’s tertiary admissions process, and unresolved technical or administrative issues can affect thousands of students seeking admission.
