According to the report, Mrs Nkechi Obi said her late husband had spent years defending what the community considers inherited land, which some residents said had long been used for farming and harvesting palm fruits. Bernard Mbolu, president of the Umuenu Quarters Assembly, said the land dispute has a long legal history and that the Supreme Court ruled in 1963 in favor of Umuenu. He said later community-level committees also found in their favor.
