According to the report, the committee also approved a facility energy management framework requiring participating hospitals to build systems for managing their power infrastructure. Eight private-sector proposals were cleared for further engagement from about 70 submissions received during an investor matchmaking week in Lagos. The Rural Electrification Agency has already energized five federal teaching hospitals and several other facilities, while officials say the next phase will focus on implementation rather than announcements.

The initiative matters because dependable electricity is essential for medical equipment, vaccine storage, laboratory services and emergency care.
