The Social Democratic Party’s campaign council for Nasarawa State gubernatorial candidate Muhammad Adamu, a former Inspector General of Police, says it will focus its 2027 election messaging on policy issues rather than personal attacks. According to Vanguard’s report, the pledge was made in Lafia by campaign director general Abdulahi Yammani as the team prepared for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s lifting of the ban on political campaigning.

Yammani said the campaign would emphasize peace, stability and lawful conduct, arguing that disorder and “do-or-die” politics would undermine both the election and development in the state. He urged supporters to remain calm and avoid actions that could trigger violence, while saying the organization wants to present Adamu as a candidate capable of moving Nasarawa State forward.

Yammani pointed to Adamu’s past leadership in the police and his international policing roles as evidence of experience, and said Adamu and his wife, Rukayat Muhamed Adamu, have also provided assistance to vulnerable people.
