The Kano Emirate and Islamic scholars have urged Nigerians to pray for a peaceful, credible and successful 2027 general election, according to a report by This Day distributed through AllAfrica. The appeal was made in Abuja at a Qur’anic graduation ceremony, where traditional and religious leaders used the event to link moral upbringing with national stability ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Representing the Emir of Kano, the Sadauki of Kano, Awal Ado Bayero, congratulated the graduating students and their families while urging the children to treat their completion of Qur’anic studies as the start of a lifelong commitment to good character, discipline and responsible citizenship. He said Qur’anic teachings can help promote peaceful coexistence and civic responsibility, especially as Nigeria approaches the 2027 polls.

Other speakers made similar appeals. A representative of Katsina State First Lady Aisha Bala Muhammed described the completion of the Qur’an as an important achievement and encouraged the graduates to build their lives around its teachings. The wife of the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly said the programme was meant to strengthen the religious and moral upbringing of children. The principal of the Abuja National Mosque Academy added that Qur’anic education should prepare children to apply religious lessons in daily life, not only recite them. The broader message was a call to reject violence and intolerance and to support peaceful civic conduct.
