NextCom Hosts Young Silverback Competition to Showcase Emerging Creative Talent

What the report says
NextCom Communications, a digital agency under Next Media, and the Uganda Advertising Association hosted the Young Silverback Competition at Next Media Park in Kampala on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. According to Nile Post, the event brought together young creatives from student, agency and corporate backgrounds to test ideas, respond to industry briefs and present solutions in front of professionals from Uganda’s advertising and communications sector.
The competition is part of the Silverback Awards programme and is organised by UAA in partnership with Loeries Africa Middle East. It is aimed at people aged 30 and below and is designed to help them build experience in advertising, marketing, public relations and digital communications. Participants worked in teams of two across seven categories: Design, Digital, Film, Public Relations, Print, Media and Marketers.
Their entries were assessed by an industry panel that included creatives, marketing leaders and a digital creator. NextCom said its involvement reflects a wider effort to create pathways for emerging talent, alongside its Next Creata Programme, which supports young women with practical digital skills. The Young Silverback Competition is one part of a three-day creativity programme under the theme “The Bold Rise,” leading into the Uganda Festival of Creativity and Expo and the Silverback Awards Gala Dinner later in the week.
