What the report says
Police in Kazo District are investigating a suspected murder and attempted murder after a 10-year-old girl was found dead and her mother was left in critical condition at their home in Keicumu II Cell, Keicumu Parish, Engari Sub-county. Watchdog Uganda reported that the child, Ahimbisibwe Shallona, was a Primary Two pupil at Keicumu Maranatha Primary School, and the injured woman was identified as Kyomugisha Juliet, 28.
According to the report, police arrested Kamukama Alon, described as the surviving victim’s husband, in connection with the November 3 incident. Preliminary findings cited by the outlet say he approached neighbours late at night and told them there was a dead body at his home. Community members rushed Kyomugisha to Kagongo Hospital in Ibanda District for emergency treatment before reporting the case to police. A team that included homicide detectives, scene-of-crime officers, canine handlers and uniformed police responded to begin investigations. Watchdog Uganda also reported that investigators are examining the possible relevance of a traditional shrine at the home, while the suspected motive has not yet been disclosed. The case has raised concern in the local community as police continue inquiries into the circumstances of the attack.
