Namibia: NDP Demands Delimitation Answers

What the report says
The National Democratic Party of Namibia has renewed its call for clarity on the 2024 Delimitation Commission, saying people who took part in the consultations deserve to know what happened to their recommendations. The account comes from New Era, which reported the party’s comments from Windhoek on 17 August 2026.
According to the report, NDP leader and member of Parliament Martin Lukato said the party had received a reply from the Presidency after submitting a petition to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on 12 June 2026. The petition focused on the delayed release of the commission’s findings and urged the government to make the outcome public.
Lukato said the issue was not only a party matter, but one that affected thousands of Namibians who joined consultations on the boundaries and structures of regions, constituencies and local authorities. He argued that traditional leaders, community representatives and ordinary citizens had given time and effort to a constitutional process that used public resources, and should therefore receive feedback.
The Presidency’s response, as described by Lukato, said the President had noted the petition, was considering the matter and would make a statement at an appropriate time. Lukato said the reply was a step forward, but not a final answer. He added that the delimitation process matters because it can affect political and administrative representation, and said the NDP would keep pursuing the issue through constitutional and democratic channels.
