What the report says

Namibia’s National Democratic Party has renewed pressure on the government to explain what happened to the findings and recommendations of the 2024 Delimitation Commission, according to New Era, distributed by AllAfrica. The party says people who took part in the consultations deserve a clear public update on a process that affected the country’s regional, constituency and local authority boundaries.

NDP leader and member of Parliament Martin Lukato said the party recently received a response from the Presidency after submitting a petition on 12 June 2026 to President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. That petition raised concerns about the delay in releasing the commission’s findings and asked for the outcome to be made public. Lukato said the presidency’s reply indicated the president had noted the petition, was considering the matter, and would make a pronouncement at an appropriate time.

Lukato said the issue matters beyond party politics because traditional authorities, community leaders and ordinary citizens invested time and resources in consultations tied to a constitutional process. He argued that the government should provide feedback because public funds were used and because the results could affect representation and administration across Namibia.

The NDP said it would continue to follow the matter through parliamentary and other democratic channels while awaiting further communication from the Presidency. The report suggests the commission’s delayed outcome remains a point of public interest, especially for communities seeking clarity on whether their input will shape final decisions.
