Namibia: National Music Awards Are Back

The relaunch was announced at the National Theatre of Namibia in Windhoek last week, alongside a new brand identity and details for the next awards cycle. Submissions are open from 10 August to 11 September, nominees are due to be announced on 26 January next year, and the ceremony is scheduled for 13 March 2027.

The launch also highlighted the government’s role in supporting the platform. Education, innovation, youth, sport, arts and culture minister Sanet Steenkamp said the state would take stewardship of the awards and pledged N$10 million toward reviving them. She described the NAMAs as a national stage for Namibian music and said the effort would depend on broader partnerships, including private-sector support.
