The Associated Press reported that police arrested one person and were searching for a second suspect after a shooting Sunday evening at Seattle Center, the events campus beneath the Space Needle, during the Bite of Seattle food festival. The gunfire broke out around 6 p.m. on July 26, 2026, killing three people and injuring four others, according to AP.

Assistant Seattle Police Chief Tyrone Davis said investigators believe the two suspects were firing at each other. One suspect surrendered at the scene after officers providing event security saw gunfire, while the other fled and had not been located. Davis said police did not yet have a description of the person being sought, but told reporters there was no continuing threat to the public. Authorities had not determined whether any of the victims were part of the confrontation.

AP reported that two people died at the scene and a third died after being taken to a hospital. Seattle Fire Department spokesperson Grace Nuñez said the four injured people, including a 2-year-old boy, were hospitalized in stable condition; the other injured victims were adults. Police and emergency crews evacuated parts of the Seattle Center campus and searched the grounds.

The shooting disrupted the final hours of Bite of Seattle, a three-day annual festival featuring food and retail vendors and performances. Witnesses and vendors described panic as attendees ran for shelter or exits, with some vendors later waiting outside police lines to retrieve equipment and supplies.
