CBS News reported that the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy continued Wednesday in Plymouth Superior Court, where jurors heard the 911 call made by her former husband, Patrick Clancy, after the couple’s three children were found in their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in 2023. Clancy, 35, is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan on Jan. 24, 2023.

Patrick Clancy completed his testimony after two days on the stand. CBS reported that he described returning home, seeing blood in the bedroom and finding Lindsay Clancy outside. The 911 audio was played in court, and Lindsay Clancy cried during the recording, according to the report. Judge William Sullivan dismissed jurors afterward, with testimony scheduled to resume Thursday morning.

The case centers in part on competing explanations of Clancy’s mental state. Prosecutors allege the killings were deliberate, while the defense says she was overmedicated and experiencing severe postpartum psychosis. Under cross-examination, defense attorney Kevin Reddington questioned Patrick Clancy about Lindsay’s sleep deprivation, anxiety, medications and journal notes describing intrusive thoughts. Patrick also testified that she had been a dedicated mother.

CBS reported that Clancy appears in court in a wheelchair because she was paralyzed after attempting to take her own life that night. If convicted of first-degree murder, she could face life in prison. The testimony is significant because jurors are hearing both the immediate aftermath of the children’s deaths and evidence tied to the defense’s mental health argument.
