Kenya’s Madoya back to battle for POA golf honors at Entebbe Club

Kenyan golfer Jastas “Pastor” Madoya is set to return to Entebbe Club for the Pearl of Africa Sunshine Development Tour, according to The Independent Uganda. The event is scheduled for 17-19 September at the par-71 lakeside course in Entebbe, Uganda. Madoya is best known for winning the 2019 Uganda Open, and the report says he also won the 2019 Entebbe Open and the Uganda Open in 2021.

The article says Madoya described Entebbe as a course he enjoys because of its breezy conditions and because of his past success there. He is slated to tee off alongside South Africa’s Chante Van Zyl and Ugandan amateur Michael Kijjambu. The tournament includes 122 professional and elite amateur players.

The total prize fund is listed at 79 million shillings. Sponsors named in the report include Exim Bank, Uganda Tourism Board, Vivo Energy, Case MedInsurance, MTN Momo, Castle Lite, Aquafina and Pepsi Uganda. The event matters because it draws a large regional field and offers ranking points alongside significant prize money.
