Bleacher Report says EA Sports announced the initial “99 Club” for Madden NFL 27 on Monday, ahead of the game’s release next month. The players receiving the top 99 overall rating at launch are Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Rams defensive end Myles Garrett, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride.

According to the report, Allen, Garrett and Chase are back in the 99-rated group for a second consecutive season, while Stafford, Smith-Njigba and McBride are first-time selections. EA Sports also worked with Topps on a glass football trophy, designed by artist Victor Solomon, to be presented to the honorees.

Bleacher Report noted several 2025 season accomplishments tied to the ratings. Stafford was described as the league leader in passing yards and touchdown passes and the NFL MVP. Garrett was identified as the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, giving the Rams two members of the 99 Club, the only team with multiple players listed. Smith-Njigba was cited as Offensive Player of the Year after a league-leading receiving season, while McBride was named first-team All-Pro after leading tight ends in catches and receiving yards.

Madden ratings are a recurring part of the NFL video game’s preseason rollout and often draw attention from players and fans because the 99 overall score is the series’ highest rating. Bleacher Report says Madden NFL 27 is scheduled for worldwide release on Aug. 13, with early access available up to seven days sooner through an MVP+ membership.
