Jerry Jeudy denies calling for Deshaun Watson to start for Browns this season after viral video - Yahoo Sports
What the report says
Yahoo Sports reported that Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy pushed back after a TikTok Live clip circulated online suggesting he wanted Deshaun Watson to be the team’s starting quarterback this season. The video appeared to show Jeudy holding up four fingers in response to a fan’s question about the Browns’ quarterback choice, a gesture interpreted by some viewers as support for Watson, who wears No. 4. Yahoo noted the clip appeared to have been edited and spread quickly on social media.
According to the report, Jeudy responded Sunday on X to an ESPN Cleveland post, saying the clip had been cut in a way that created a false storyline. In a follow-up post, he said he does not comment on decisions that are not his to make, supports his teammates, and focuses on his own role. His comments were aimed at distancing himself from speculation that he was publicly endorsing one quarterback over another.
The quarterback situation is a major storyline for Cleveland entering training camp. Yahoo reported that Watson is healthy again after missing the 2025 season following two surgeries for a ruptured Achilles. The Browns went 5-12 last season while using Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders at quarterback. Jeudy finished the year with 602 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Yahoo added context on Watson’s tenure, including his fully guaranteed five-year, $230 million contract signed in 2022 and his past 11-game suspension after allegations of sexual misconduct by more than two dozen women. The report said Watson and Sanders are expected to compete for the starting role, with no decision announced.
