‘Jay and Silent Bob’ Marijuana Farming Game in the Works - The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter says Kevin Smith’s long-running characters Jay and Silent Bob are being adapted into a new video game, Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture. The project was announced by Smith on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con and is being developed with involvement from Smith and Jason Mewes, who play the characters. The game is described as an adult-oriented “cozy farm sim,” with marijuana presented as a central crop in the trailer.

Nitrate Games, a newly formed independent game company, is backing the title. According to THR, the game is aiming for a 2027 launch on PC and Steam, and players will be able to encounter characters from Smith’s film universe. The title positions itself as a more raunchy variation on farming and life-simulation games associated with franchises such as FarmVille and Stardew Valley.

THR reported that Nitrate Games was founded by Daniel Kendrick, Montana Sommese and Nick Madonna. Kendrick has worked across entertainment properties including Locke & Key, Wynonna Earp, Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog, while Sommese has experience connecting gaming and Hollywood intellectual property. Madonna, Nitrate’s head of development, has worked with companies including Saber Interactive and Square Enix and also leads PHL Collective.

The report also names Chase Marotz as creative director and Ernie Altbacker as writer on Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture. Beyond this game, Nitrate is said to be looking at other adaptations, including the 1978 cult film Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, underscoring its stated focus on offbeat uses of recognizable properties.
