Israeli raids, demolitions continue as UN warns West Bank at breaking point

Israeli forces carried out a fresh round of raids and demolitions across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, detaining at least 23 Palestinians and tearing down homes and other structures, according to Al Jazeera’s report citing Palestinian sources and UN remarks. The actions came alongside continued settler attacks on Palestinian villages, while the United Nations said the territory was nearing a “breaking point.”

Among those detained were children, including one described as disabled, and a man taken while tending livestock in the northern Jordan Valley. Arrests were also reported in the Jenin and Bethlehem areas. In Tal, southwest of Nablus, Israeli forces demolished the family home of Farouq Ramadan, who was killed in a confrontation with settlers in July. Al Jazeera also reported that another family home was destroyed near Yatta and that a water well was filled in, leaving nine people displaced.

The report said soldiers also demolished commercial warehouses and an agricultural facility, and issued further demolition notices in Masafer Yatta. In Al-Mughayyir, settlers attacked Palestinians working their land, injuring six people, including children and women. In Burqa, six Palestinians were wounded during an Israeli raid, while other nearby villages also faced settler incursions.

At the UN Security Council, Deputy Special Coordinator Ramiz Alakbarov said violence, demolitions and settlement expansion were pushing the West Bank toward de facto annexation. He said hundreds of settler attacks and widespread displacement have been documented this year, underscoring the scale of the escalation and its impact on Palestinian communities.
