Israeli forces kill one in Gaza as another body recovered from rubble

What the report says
Israeli attacks in Gaza killed at least one Palestinian and left several others wounded over the weekend, according to Al Jazeera’s report citing Palestinian health authorities and the Qatar News Agency. Medical sources said Israeli forces shot and killed a man east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza on Saturday. The Gaza Ministry of Health also said hospitals received the bodies of two Palestinians on Sunday, including one recovered from beneath the rubble of destroyed buildings.
The report said more people were injured in separate attacks in Khan Younis, Rafah and Gaza City. Local sources described shelling and gunfire near areas sheltering displaced families, including tents in Khan Younis and the al-Mawasi area of Rafah. The article said one woman was critically wounded and a girl was seriously hurt, while other people sustained injuries in Gaza City’s Tuffah neighbourhood.
Al Jazeera, citing the Gaza Health Ministry, said the war that began in October 2023 has left tens of thousands dead and wounded, with many bodies still believed trapped under debris because rescue crews cannot reach them. The ministry has also been tracking deaths, injuries and recovered bodies since a ceasefire took effect in October.
The report also noted a political development outside Gaza: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel rejects President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan and would not withdraw before Hamas is disarmed. That stance leaves the ceasefire framework and any Israeli pullback unresolved while violence continues.
