Al Jazeera reported that Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned the United States on Saturday that Tehran and its regional allies would deliver “unforgettable lessons” if US attacks continue. According to the report, a written statement attributed to Khamenei was read on Iranian state television, accusing Washington of repeatedly breaching a memorandum of understanding signed the previous month and saying President Donald Trump’s signature had no value.

The statement described US foreign policy as rooted in coercion and domination and said Washington had exposed what Khamenei called its unreliability. Al Jazeera said he urged Iranians to trust the country’s leadership, remain vigilant and stay active as the conflict continues. The outlet reported that the MoU, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan, had been intended to help create conditions for a permanent end to the war, but that both Tehran and Washington now say the accord is over after trading accusations of violations.

Al Jazeera also reported that the United States escalated attacks on Iran this week, including strikes on civilian infrastructure such as bridges, rail lines and water desalination plants. The report said Tehran responded by hitting civilian infrastructure in Kuwait, prompting authorities there to call for electricity rationing.

The report frames the confrontation as part of a US-Israeli war on Iran that began in February and is viewed by Iran’s senior leadership as existential.
