Iran, Houthis strike tankers as US bombing continues: What’s the latest? - Al Jazeera

What the report says
Al Jazeera reported that the United States carried out another overnight round of strikes on Iran early Thursday, the 12th consecutive night of attacks, while Iran and Yemen’s Houthis claimed attacks affecting tankers and US-linked military assets across the region. US Central Command said at 02:30 GMT that it had completed strikes on Iranian military targets, including maritime, missile, drone, air-defence and coastal surveillance capabilities, but did not identify all locations hit.
According to Al Jazeera, Iranian state and local sources reported strikes in Khuzestan, Hormozgan, Bushehr and other areas. A Khuzestan official told state broadcaster IRIB that two people were killed near Shalamcheh, while local media reported 11 injuries. Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Tehran said explosions were reported in several southwestern cities and that Bushehr experienced a short power outage after a substation near the city’s nuclear power plant was hit.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had struck US assets in Kuwait and Jordan, claiming damage to systems and facilities at Ali Al Salem airbase and to US missile-defence-related sites in Jordan. Those claims were presented by the IRGC as attacks on US forces rather than on Kuwaiti or Jordanian sovereignty; Al Jazeera’s article did not include independent confirmation of the extent of the damage.
At sea, the IRGC said an explosion set a tanker on fire in the Strait of Hormuz and warned vessels against passing without Iranian coordination. The UK Maritime Trade Operations Centre separately said a ship was hit off Saudi Arabia, causing a fire. The Houthis claimed attacks on two Saudi oil tankers, Encelia and Layla, in the Red Sea; Saudi state media confirmed Encelia was hit. The developments matter because disruptions now involve both Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandeb route, two major maritime chokepoints for energy and commercial shipping.
