Rezaee, who previously led the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for 16 years during the Iran-Iraq war, was also named Khamenei’s representative in the security council. Other appointments included Ali Abdollahi as chief of staff of the armed forces, Ali Ozmaei as head of the IRGC Navy, and Ahmad Vahidi as commander-in-chief of the IRGC. The article said Vahidi replaced Mohammad Pakpour, who was killed in the opening stage of the war in late February.
