Ibanda RDC Halts Lord’s Community Activities Over Security Concerns

What the report says
Ibanda district authorities have suspended the activities of a newly formed religious group known as the Lord’s Community, also called Abaloodi, after residents and local leaders raised security concerns. The group has been operating in the Kashangura and Mahega areas of Ibanda Municipality, where it drew attention over allegations that people seeking to join were being asked to surrender property, including land.
According to the Nile Post report, Ibanda Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Mbetegyereize ordered the halt while security agencies review the matter and consult relevant authorities. He said the move was meant to prevent possible exploitation and to determine whether the group is operating within the law. The RDC also said complaints had been received about the group’s activities and the reported property demands.
Mbetegyereize said he has written to the Office of the President for guidance and clearance and is waiting for a response before the next steps are decided. The article says authorities are still assessing the group’s operations and the concerns raised by the public.
The case reflects broader worries about vulnerable people being pressured in informal or newly emerging religious movements. As reported, officials have urged residents to stay alert and report any activity they believe could threaten their rights, property or security while the investigation continues.
