Housing Finance Customers to Access Services Through 23,000 Quickteller Agents

What the report says
Housing Finance Bank has partnered with Interswitch Uganda to widen access to basic banking services through the Quickteller agency network, according to Nile Post. The arrangement was launched on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and is designed to let customers deposit and withdraw cash and check balances at agent outlets instead of relying only on the bank’s 22 branches.
The bank says the move is meant to bring services closer to customers’ homes and businesses and support financial inclusion, especially for people in rural areas and operators of small businesses. Its distribution and alternate channels head, Ivan Kakembo Kituuka, said the partnership reflects a shift toward serving customers where they are, while chief operations officer Robert Kusiima said it is aimed at reaching underserved users such as market vendors, farmers and informal transport operators.
Interswitch said the integration gives Housing Finance customers access to a large national agent footprint, which the article describes as more than 23,000 Quickteller points across Uganda, though the report also notes more than 20,000 service touchpoints and more than 2,000 additional service points. The company said the wider network could also create more transactions and income opportunities for agency banking operators.
The bank is also rolling out a USSD account-opening option, allowing prospective customers to open accounts without visiting a branch. More broadly, the partnership reflects a wider trend in Uganda’s banking sector toward agency and digital channels to extend formal financial services beyond major urban centers.
