Haruna Sentongo’s Self-Financed New Entebbe Taxi Park Takes Shape in Kampala CBD

KAMPALA — Watchdog Uganda reports that developer Haruna Sentongo has started work on a private taxi park project in Kampala’s central business district aimed at reorganizing transport along the Entebbe Road corridor. The facility, called the New Entebbe Taxi Park or Haruna Entebbe Taxi Park, is being built on 4.5 acres at the edge of the CBD.

According to the publisher, Sentongo said the project is being financed entirely from his own resources and is intended to hold taxis serving the Entebbe-Kampala route. Watchdog Uganda said the overall cost is expected to reach about US$50 million when finished. Construction reportedly began earlier this year, with workers now casting floors and slabs.

The planned complex is described as a series of connected blocks, labeled A through N, with a mosque on top for the Uganda Muslim Tabliq community. The article says the design also includes landscaped courtyards and a modern multi-building layout.
