Gunman fired at US consulate in Toronto, second time building was shot at this year - Fox News

What the report says
Fox News reported that a gunman fired at the U.S. Consulate in Toronto on Monday, in what authorities described as the second shooting to strike the building this year. Police found one shell casing and damage to the consulate’s facade, and no injuries were reported. The U.S. Consulate said U.S. diplomatic facilities in Canada remained open and operating normally, though some routine citizen services in Toronto were being rescheduled.
Toronto Deputy Police Chief Frank Barredo said the shooting was followed by a high-speed police pursuit lasting about an hour, but no one was arrested. He said investigators were treating the case seriously and would continue searching for those responsible. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow called the incident a brazen attack and warned that authorities would pursue the person or people involved.
Fox News reported that the same consulate was targeted on March 10, when two suspects allegedly fired multiple rounds at the building and left in a stolen vehicle. Sheldon Tracy-Stewart, 18, and Zara Jabbi, 19, were arrested last month and charged in connection with that earlier case; the allegations have not been tested in court. Police had maintained a visible presence at the consulate since the March shooting, and Barredo said a marked patrol vehicle and two security personnel were present during Monday’s incident.
Authorities have not established a motive. Barredo said police had not ruled out a link to recent shootings at two Jewish-owned bakeries, and Fox News noted police previously said several shootings, including the March consulate attack, could be connected to layered gun-for-hire networks that also targeted synagogues. Ontario Premier Doug Ford condemned the recent violence and said active investigations were underway.
