Fly Entebbe Express urges passengers to claim abandoned luggage

Fly Entebbe Express, a taxi operators’ association serving the Entebbe route, has asked passengers to come forward and reclaim luggage and other personal items left in its vehicles. According to the Nile Post report, the group says many recovered belongings have remained uncollected for months, creating storage challenges at its offices in Manyago, Entebbe Municipality.

The association has set a one-month window for owners to identify and collect their property without storage charges. Chairman Peter Kagwa said passengers who suspect they left something behind should visit the offices and provide enough detail to confirm ownership, especially where similar items have been recovered. The items described include bags, documents, electronics and clothing.

The operators said unclaimed property may be handled under their procedures if it is not collected within the deadline. Depending on the item and circumstances, this could include handing it to police, disposing of it, or, for belongings kept for more than three years, donating them to people in need. Derrick Ssebuliba, general manager of the Fly Express Travellers Association, said the effort is also meant to remind passengers to check seats and luggage before leaving vehicles.

The notice highlights a common issue in public transport: items are often forgotten when passengers are in a rush or arriving at busy destinations. The association says its immediate goal is to return as many recovered belongings as possible to their rightful owners before the deadline expires.
