Five-Year-Old Girl Abducted While Buying Pancake Rescued in Luwero

What the report says
Police in Luwero District say they have rescued a five-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted while she went to buy a pancake in Mabale Village, Luwero Town Council. According to Watchdog Uganda, the child disappeared on the evening of October 28, 2026, and officers began investigations after the matter was reported the same day.
The report says the case developed after the girl’s parents returned to police on October 29 with a man identified as Ssekanjako Muhammad, who claimed he had seen the child at the home of a traditional healer. Police searched the location but did not find her. Ssekanjako and the woman at the premises were then detained, and investigators later said his account appeared suspicious.
Police further said that during questioning on October 30, Ssekanjako allegedly admitted abducting the child and led officers to Nkologe Village, where he said the girl had been handed to his brother, Musisi Frank. Investigators recovered the child from Musisi’s residence in Nakikota Parish, Luwero Sub-county, though Musisi reportedly fled when police arrived. His wife and mother were arrested as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Watchdog Uganda reported that police have not released the identities of all detained suspects or details on the child’s condition. The case underscores the role of quick reporting and coordinated police searches in missing-child cases, while investigations continue into whether others were involved.
