Ex-JPMorgan banker Chirayu Rana files new lawsuit — and it's totally different from his 'sex slave' claims - New York Post

The New York Post reports that former JPMorgan Chase banker Chirayu Rana filed a new federal lawsuit Monday in Manhattan against the bank and several current or former colleagues, shifting the emphasis from the most sensational sexual allegations in his earlier case to claims of racial discrimination and retaliation. The new filing still accuses executive Lorna Hajdini of drugging and sexually assaulting him, but the Post says it omits some explicit language and reframes the case around workplace racism.

According to the Post’s account of the lawsuit, Rana alleges colleagues used racist nicknames and comments, mocked his Nepalese background, referenced payment in rupees, and sent or circulated messages he says were discriminatory. The new complaint adds JPMorgan managing directors Brandon Graffeo and Jon Wolter and associate Kelly Crowe as defendants, alongside JPMorgan and Hajdini. Rana also alleges that after he reported misconduct, he received anonymous threats and that the bank later tried to harm his finance career, including by interfering with a subsequent job.

The Post notes that Rana’s earlier state-court suit drew attention for graphic sexual coercion claims and included a bereavement-leave allegation the paper later challenged; the federal complaint now says the leave involved his critically ill mother, not his father’s death. Rana’s attorney, Jon Norinsberg, told the Post the new case is intended to focus on racism, retaliation and documentary evidence rather than salacious details.

JPMorgan denied the allegations in a statement to the Post, saying its investigation found no merit and that Rana declined to participate or provide central facts. Hajdini’s lawyers did not comment to the Post, which reported that her defamation counterclaim remains active in Manhattan Supreme Court. Rana’s prior state case was dismissed at his request so it could be refiled in federal court.
