Democrat senators ask US SEC to probe Trump Media’s fast feed sale

Al Jazeera, citing a Reuters report published July 29, 2026, says Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff have asked the US Securities and Exchange Commission to examine whether Trump Media & Technology Group’s planned paid data feed for Truth Social posts violates securities law. The senators’ July 28 letter to SEC Chair Paul Atkins concerns a product called Truth API, which TMTG says will give trading firms the quickest access to posts from 10 prominent Truth Social accounts, including President Donald Trump’s.

According to the report, Trump Media has discussed pricing the service at up to $100,000 per month and has said customers are already signed up ahead of an August 1 launch, though it has not named them. Warren and Schiff argue the arrangement could give wealthy market participants an unfair advantage because Trump’s posts have previously affected markets and because trading firms often compete on how quickly they can react to market-moving information.

Trump Media rejected the senators’ concerns, saying Democrats were mischaracterizing the product and arguing that the feed involves publicly available information rather than nonpublic material. The SEC confirmed receiving the letter but declined further comment, while the White House referred questions to the company.

The issue matters because it combines market-access questions with ethics concerns around a sitting president’s business interests. Reuters reported that Trump owns about 41 percent of Trump Media through a trust overseen by his children. Warren and Schiff also pointed to Trump’s past Truth Social comments about specific companies as a reason regulators should assess possible risks to market fairness and investor confidence.
