Corey Heim won the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday, according to an Associated Press report published by NBC Sports. Heim moved past 23XI Racing co-owner Denny Hamlin on the race’s final restart, using the outside lane, and stayed in front for the final 35 laps on the 2.5-mile oval.

The victory was Heim’s first in the Brickyard 400 and his second NASCAR Cup Series win of the season, despite not yet running full time in the series. NBC Sports reported that the 24-year-old became the first Cup driver since A.J. Foyt in 1965 to win twice within his first 15 career starts. Christopher Bell finished second, 0.287 seconds behind, while Joey Logano placed third, just under a second back.

Hamlin, seeking his first win at Indianapolis and the final major piece in a sweep of NASCAR’s four crown jewel races, finished fifth. As a team owner with 23XI Racing, however, he reached victory lane for a second straight year at the event after Bubba Wallace’s 2025 win. Todd Gilliland also drew attention by winning the $1 million In-Season Challenge after starting 36th and finishing 24th.

The race included several setbacks for major contenders. Ryan Blaney was caught in a nine-car crash with 41 laps remaining, while Kyle Larson, Daniel Dye and Chase Elliott were eliminated early after tire-related incidents or wall contact. Larson’s winless streak extended to 46 races. The Cup Series now pauses after 16 consecutive racing weeks before returning Aug. 9 at Iowa Speedway.
