CAF president Patrice Motsepe has congratulated Cameroon’s women’s national team, the Indomitable Lionesses, along with the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), its president Samuel Eto’o, and the people of Cameroon after their win at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026, according to CAF. The federation said Cameroon beat Malawi 3-0 in the final on Sunday at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat to claim the continental title for the first time.
The CAF statement also framed the tournament as evidence of the continued growth of women’s football in Africa. It noted that Cameroon received USD 2 million in prize money, and said the championship payout has risen sharply under Motsepe’s leadership compared with earlier editions. In a letter quoted by CAF, Motsepe praised the team’s performance and said their leadership and motivation contributed to the victory.
