What the report says

Nile Post reported that Buluuli claimed their first point of the 2026 Masaza Cup after a 1-1 draw with defending champions Buweekula at Kakooge Playground on Sunday. The Bulange Group match closed the first round of group fixtures, leaving Buluuli with one point from five matches and Buweekula on five from the same number.

According to the report, Buluuli appeared close to a first win of the campaign after Kosea Kagga put the home side ahead. Buweekula, however, salvaged a draw in stoppage time through striker Fred Lopez, preventing what would have been a notable victory for the hosts and keeping the champions within reach of qualification.

Buweekula coach Ibrahim Kyobe acknowledged that the title holders had underperformed in the opening round but said they remained in contention. Nile Post reported that Kyobe expects the team to use a one-week break to address weaknesses and that management plans to add five players before the second round. Lopez and captain Patrick Kagulire also pointed to the team’s resilience and the importance of improving when the competition resumes.

At the halfway point in the Bulange Group, Buddu lead with 13 points, followed by Busujju on nine, Buvuma on seven, Kyaddondo on six, Buweekula on five and Buluuli on one. The second round is scheduled to resume on August 1, with Buweekula set to host Buluuli at NTC Playground in Mubende on August 2, a fixture that could influence the group’s qualification picture.
