What the report says
National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, known as Bobi Wine, has paid tribute to Ugandan comedian Yokana Mbuuse, also called Kapere Lufotose, after news of his death. According to Nile Post, Bobi Wine described Kapere as a patriot, a gifted entertainer, a devoted family man and a friend whose humour and character affected many people. The tribute was shared on social media following the comedian’s death.
Nile Post reported that Kapere died on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Royale Health Services Hospital in Buddo, Wakiso District, where he had been receiving treatment. His body was later moved to Mulago National Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death. The article said Bobi Wine’s message reflected both personal grief and wider appreciation for Kapere’s role in Uganda’s entertainment scene.
In the tribute, Bobi Wine said Kapere had a warm personality and did not want to be defined by his appearance. He praised the comedian’s sincerity, kindness and the way he used his voice and talent for the good of the country. The NUP leader also offered condolences to Kapere’s widow and children.
Kapere was known for physical comedy and his work with the Amarula Family comedy group. The report noted that he had overcome childhood hardship and hearing impairment to build a recognised career in comedy, which helped make him a familiar name in Ugandan entertainment.
