Benard Feni named Entrepreneur of the Year as Euro Gold Refinery takes top extractives award

What the report says
Benard Feni, a Kampala-based businessman and gospel artist also known as Mungu Feni, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2026 Business Excellence Awards. His firm, Euro Gold Refinery Ltd, was also singled out as the Platinum Winner in the Best Natural Resources and Extractives category, according to The Independent Uganda. The awards were organised by Consumer Publications Uganda Ltd and were based on consumer-driven research, with judges reportedly considering areas such as quality, service, value, integrity and innovation.
Feni said the recognition reflected his company’s emphasis on transparency, job creation and growth, and he linked the award to the wider role of young Ugandans building businesses and opportunities. The article presents the honour as both a personal milestone and a sign of the contribution private companies can make to the economy through employment and value addition.
The recognition comes as Euro Gold Refinery seeks a larger role in Uganda’s mineral processing sector. The company has invested in refining capacity, technology and staffing, and the report says it recently signed a contract with the Bank of Uganda to refine gold. It also holds mining interests and partnerships with local miners, including agreements intended to bring artisanal miners into the formal economy and support refining to 99.9% purity. In broader context, Uganda has been encouraging more local mineral processing to keep more value from natural resources within the country.
